Was it the great Ernest Paty who coined that phrase? Well, that was the pattern today. I made my mind up that I was only going to fish places I had never fished before. I found some great spots and would catch a nice keeper within the first 30 seconds of dropping down. I'd catch 2-3 more within the next 5 minutes then, nothing. DEAD. I'd move up about 100 yards to another pile (loaded with fish on SI), and the exact same thing would happen. The first fish would always be the biggest. Water temp was 65 degrees. They were on lay downs in 18-20 FOW.
