I keep hearing all these horror stories about don't go in Flat Cr. unless you want to leave some fiberglass, Flat Cr. is full of rebar, watch out for the rebar and so forth. Is it just what some fool hammered into some stumps or is it attached to something else. I've only been in there once and only went about a mile in. The water was low and I don't remember seeing anything unusual. Of course it's the stuff I don't see that worries me.

Flat is full of rebar and pipe. Just get ready to scratch and gouge your boat.

I worry more about getting stuck on the 5,000,000 stumps! It's a pain to navigate

I've gouged my new boat on rebar years back in a local river.
It's something that idiots do, (usually locals) who would drive the rebar into an old stump that had rotted off just under the water line so they could tie off a trotline.
A more sinister reason would be to keep unwanted fishermen out of the area.

Just one more cast!

It's a story that people tell to keep people out. No rebar up there.

Guys used to hammer it into the tops of stumps and paint it orange to mark the channel.
Helped me out, don't cha know.

Last time I was in there I hit a piece of re bar with my trolling motor, it bent it over and scratched the heck out of my motor, but better than scratching gel coat. Trot liners put it in the stumps, There are also T posts in there to.

So it's a sabotage, trotline, boat lane marker deal. I guess it would be a bad idea to go in there in a rubber raft or fall off the boat for fear of being impaled. I'm surprised nobody went through there and removed or hammered a bunch of it down when the water was low.
I swear. The ignorance of some people. They must have known that stuff would cause problems.

Joke is on them. I patch my own gel coat. Dang boat already has about 4 feet of patches on it.
Sounds like they really should put up some signs in there for advertisement though.

Rebar seems to be in a bunch of lakes. You couldn't find a much worse material to use.
