I have a Tracker 175TXW boat and trailer I purchased new about 3.5 years ago. The boat is garaged and rinsed after most every trip. Tracker boats trumpets their "Galvashield" process and corrosion protection.

Here's what it looks like after three years:

Huge chunks of rusty metal coming out of the tongue of the trailer.

All the fasteners are rusting. My bunks are coming lost as some of the bolts have fallen out.

Rinse the boat off but it drips lots of rust on the floor.

I like my boat. It fishes fine but I'm going to need a new trailer. Anyone know of someone making aluminum or galvanized trailers in North Texas?

Try calling McGill's welding http://mcgillpropeller.com/ and see if they can recommend someone. They used to handle Roadrunner trailers.

Who installed the break over tongue? That is what is rusting. And it is easy to see it ain't galvanized. I have a 2002 Tracker galvanized trailer and absolutely no rust anywhere.

California. Well it's like breakfast cereal. You get rid of the fruits and nuts and all that's left are the flakes. Thank goodness there's a place called Texas.

the trailers are made for freshwater use if you put your boat in pk Granbury whitney squaw creek or texoma you might as well take it to the gulf.

Those lakes are salty.

You might look into Magic Tilt trailers, I have one that has been good for the last three years. I didn't think much of it at first, there are better built aluminum trailers out there, but it has not had any issues so far hauling my 22' CC around.

Galvanized trailers, if rinsed and maintained, do fine in the salt, as does aluminum. Steel painted trailers, not so well.

Are they still using tube metal on their trailers?? My Dad had a 90's model Tracker and the dang thing rusted through and dang near dumped the boat on the freeway. Tube holds water. When he had a new trailer made he made sure they used anything but tube!!

I have a 2011 model and my trailer doesn't look like that. Maybe just a bad batch of coating or something.

I have fished Texoma many many times, never seen an issue with my trailer due to rust

Yes, it does have a slight higher salt content from what I have heard, but it's not like your fishing the Salt Lake.

The fasteners are rusting because they are plated and not galvanized. The swing tongue is clearly not galvanized and the rust from it could be washing down through the interior of the trailer tubing and dripping out the rear. I would do some more investigating before replacing the trailer.

JCB: They still use tube. It's cheap but not good. No way to wash the slat off the inside of that tube. I need to replace the trailer before it breaks in half and leaves me stranded.

MikeyB: That would good news if it's a bad batch. That said, I will replace it with aluminum.

Bob: I sure hate to wait until it breaks in half on the ramp or road. Rusty steel tube will give way at the worse possible time.

Did you purchase this from the Tracker dealer? Did you purchase this new? Seems to me that if you did, you would be going back to the dealer. Or, is it used and 15 years old?
