The above link is the Accountability post, good place to start!
Start tracking calories and the activities you do. Less calories in, more burning calories. Walk, run, bike, anything!!

Jbass- what worked for me was proper diet (DASH diet), elliptical machine 4-5 times a week (30 min each time- sweat your arse off) and lots of situps/crunches. This will certainly strengthen your core and drop the pounds. I am 49 and lost 25 pounds over 4 months doing this. Good luck. Check in and let us know how you're doing.

Your diet is 80% exercise is 20%. If you eat 4 pieces of pizza for dinner your exercise is not going to make up for it. Look at what your eating on a regular basis and replace the bad choices with good ones. You want to change your life so you wont have to loose the weight again in the future. Pop, sweet tea, and candy bars are where I get all my extra weight from as soon as I cut those I loose weight when I start eating them I gain it back. You can do this find foods you like that are healthy and dig in you cant gain wait eating steamed vegetables. Sriracha suace has hardly in calories and a little bit goes a long way in flavoring food.

Your diet is 80% exercise is 20%. If you eat 4 pieces of pizza for dinner your exercise is not going to make up for it. 3 slices of pizza and 3 beers will take you running 13 miles (half marathon) to work it off. Think about that next time you eat pizza for lunch OR grab those 3 beers after work.

They key for me was to not eat past 6:30pm at night. Go to bed hungry. Sorry, but there must be a time that you will be hungry. Just part of it. That's why most people fail at losing weight. It's called lack of willpower. I'm taking a little break from the willpower grind, but plan to jump back on the train in a couple of weeks or so. Just cruising for a little while until I get my willpower steam back up.
You can do it if you want it bad enough! GL.....

Try a workout first thing in the morning...kick that metabolism off at a high rate for the day.

I even cut out most fruit. get carbs from veggies and clean protein and some good fats from olive oil, avocado, and maybe a small handful of nuts from time to time. (hardest part is quitting drinking beer or any alcohol and even diet sodas)

I started my weight loss journey May of 2016. Since that time I have lost 60 pounds and have run 3 half marathons. Totally agree it's 80% what you eat and 20% how much you move.
I don't believe there are ways to lose weight in one specific area over another. Aka targeting belly fat. You gotta start burning more calories then you eat and everything should start coming off slowly. Sit ups and crunches are great but I do not believe that leads to specific belly fat loss. It will lead to overall fat loss.
You can't out exercise a bad diet. Everyone has their own way of how they eat but for me I have made small changes I can live with forever. I don't think of how I eat as "being on a diet." In my mind being on a diet means temporary and not fun. Realistically I wont stick to something if I am hungry or restrict my favorite foods. There is no food in the world that is "off limits" to me. I just eat in moderation. If I am craving a burger, I eat it but I eat with a plan. If I am going to splurge on a burger I need to make sure I eat well the rest of the week. If I a going to eat a burger I get a single burger instead of a triple meat and cheese whataburger. Instead of getting a burger, large fries and a large dr. pepper I get just a burger and eat a piece of fruit as a side and water to drink. I am not a weight loss or nutrition expert but taking this long term approach has helped me stick to it.
I wish you the best of luck and hope to hear about your progress!

We can focus on an area, or "spot" workout, but most everyone knows that when a person has real weight to lose, he/she loses it all over, and you usually see it first in the mirror, in your face and neck.
Spot working out, such as the belly area, sure, do it, try it, focus on it. I do, but I know I lose and slim all over no matter what I do.
Regarding what to "cut" from your diet...simply follow this rule, "cut out the pleasure from your diet," and you will see results.
...painfully it works. A life with no sugar, bread, starches, fruit, candy, pop, etc., it is painful, but it works.
The real key would be to "hate" food, and "hate" eating.

...------- what if he is soaking it all in, or exercising? helpers do not expect acknowledgement
