I have been following this forum trying to learn some crappie and Lake belton info. Even asked for help and leaning post was kind enough to offer some helpful tips. Well I am learning a few things. I was in 15' of water fishing 3-4' deep with minnows.

your doing better than me brother, stay on em.. its only gonna get better. Im happy to see belton is on the up!!! cheers

I often wonder why its so hard for alot of folks to believe crappie will be in mid depths to deeper during spawn, but I guess its just not common belief.

I recall fishing a tourney several years back on granger . it was the heart of the spawn. I was in a cove with a drop off ledge in it, 13 to 15 feet. as I was heading out that morning I saw alot of fish on the sonar, and just dropped anchor. about 7 boats came into the cove, and were fishing the banks, none catching fish. we caught fish all morning and afternoon fishing slip corks 10 feet , over 13 to 15 feet of water. we left them biting.
I believe bigger fish, and more fish spawn deep in our deep water lakes than shallow sometimes, jmo.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Nice, crappie are as healthy looking as I can remember on Belton. We went yesterday, wife and I, and caught a few but we fished up the creek in 2' of water and did pretty well. I would suppose they are in transition.

if your going into a spawning cove, and see fish suspended 10, 12, 14, 16 feet stop and fish them... there may be 100 fish, relating to one tree, boulder, ledge , ect. dont pass those fish up!

Went out yesterday afternoon with 4 university students. Was fun as they were a great bunch of kids; smart, respectful and great attitude. Fishing was slow, but they were patient and hung in there.

DONT SPEND THE WHOLE SPAWN WASTING TIME FISHING SHALLOW IF THEY ARENT SHALLOW!!!!!!

Same thing last year when I went to tradinghouse during spawn, , I didnt find anything shallow, but hit some fresh brush in 10-12 feet, and whacked em good. nice fish too!
The fish arent always going to be where we expect they should be. were humans, theyre fish. They use instinct , we use logic.
Keep in mind though, spawn and fall are transition periods.
