Met up with two fishing buddies on the Guadalupe River to catch some Rainbow Trout! It was "COLD" to say the least. Temperature was 28 degrees with a windchill of 19 degrees. Met Will aka 1960texan and Steve who lives in San Antonio. Will picked up a super nice trout to get things started long before the stocking truck arrived. Once the truck arrived Will had to leave to go to work. The bite picked up about 30 minutes after the truck departed. I was able to limit out in about an hour. Caught five and had two get off. Steve was able to limit out in about two hours. Fish were caught using gold Super Duper lures and white Rooster Tails. It was very cold and windy but well worth the time. Had a BLAST fishing with two super anglers. COLD winter time fishing with friends. It just don't get any better! fish

Nice going, Chuck! Looks like you caught a few chunky ones. I don't know about you, but I was almost as happy to warm up as I was to catch a fish.

Crappie are staging in the spots for spawn. I also have been fishing the Nueces White Bass Run twice and limited out easily both times. We put in at the air port.

Thanks Jim SR. for the reply. There are several nice big rocks you can stand on when the river is a little down. It really opens up the casting area. Curtis thanks for the information. I have not made the White Bass run this year. Hopefully I get a chance soon. thumb

Hope you make it for the WB run. If not I am sure I will see you at the Crappie holes!

Fishing the extreme. Nice fish. At least it was not raining.

Side note. What is the survival chances of a trout ?

Thanks Gitter for the reply! cheers Not to many cold fishing days this winter. The survival chances are none on most water bodies . I do know that the Guadalupe River can support trout year around. From the Canyon dam down to Lazy L&L trout survive year around. Also I have heard that parts of the upper Guadalupe River around Kerville have trout year around. They could also survive in parts of North Texas as long as they have cool pockets of water to stay in year around. For the most part trout season is coming to an end and will pick up when the stockings start up again. thumb

Kind of figured that on the survival rate. Looks like the last trout postings are coming to an end!
