Next week is spring break at the HS I teach at. My wife booked us 4 days at the Doctor Creek campground at Cooper Lake State Park. I've never fished it but would like to try and introduce some fish to the cornmeal and bacon grease. Anyone got any tips for the lake for someone that has never been to it. No boat so it will have to be from the bank.

Have not been there in a while. The lake shows to be 4' low right now. The lake is full of catfish, whit bass and carp. When it was first opened it was a hot spot for black bass, big ones. Doctors creek has a fishing pier or did have. Also a pier at the South unit which is across the lake via the dam. If I were going to fish from shore I would consider baiting a place and go for the catfish. The white bass usually like something shiny, I used a medium sized hot spot type lure. Bass should be spawning so you might luck out and catch some from the shore. Keep an eye out for snakes.
If I'm not fishing or hunting I'm hunting a place to fish or hunt.
