If you're taking the wife and kiddo fishing and wanna find some shallow dumb fish for them would you go to Rayburn or Toledo Bend right now? I was specifically wanting to fish grass for a few days.

Based on the past few years at Toledo Bend we booked a 4 day spring break trip. But based on current reports (or lack of) I'm thinking I may be behind the curve. We may end up driving to Rayburn even though we are staying at Toledo Bend.

Any Locals got any suggestions?

Just left TB and it was tough, but I've never been to Rayburn.

The fish are chewing on Rayburn. 50 sacks over 20 lbs today in Bass Champs today. 5 fingers would be a good place to start fishing with the wife and kids.

Funny you say that. My thinking was to launch at Harvey, fish it, 5 fingers and Veach.

Thanks for the post...that helps a lot

Toledo Bend or Rayburn ? That's like saying Key Lime pie or Pecan pie. Me, I'd fish both.

You can run Rayburn safely but you had best be very careful on TB. This is especially true when the lake is low.

You can run "most" of Rayburn. At this level most of the stumps are under the water. All the guys running around bird island to the south are running through a forest unless you know exactly the route. I doubt they all do.

3 sacks over 30# and 2 10lbers. Rayburn is hot right now. Hope they keep the lake level stable and the grass gets more prevalent.

Thanks guys. With wind speeds supposed to be decent for the next few days and it being weekdays instead of the weekend, I'm looking forward to it. We depart at noon today because of a 4pm check in time, but I've got a sold 3.5 days of fishing ahead of me. I'm excited at the prospects.

It's been busy all this year week day or not. I've seen more boats thru the week in the past couple years than ever

For me Rayburn has always produced more and bigger fish when fishing shallow.
