Next week is spring break at the HS I teach at. My wife booked us 4 days at the Doctor Creek campground at Cooper Lake State Park. I've never fished it but would like to try and introduce some fish to the cornmeal and bacon grease. Anyone got any tips for the lake for someone that has never been to it. No boat so it will have to be from the bank.

Below the dam. Shad, worms and punch bait. If you hang a biggun work it downstream away for the rocks.
From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."
Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

I have fished it and always caught but I fished out of the other park and used my kayak. Muzzlebreak's advise sounds good. If that doesn't work I would fish one of the points. Look at google earth, it shows several points that look promising. Picks were taken when the lake was low. The piers might work too. If I were going I would buy 20% protein range cubes and cumb and area. For bait if you can't catch shad go to an Asian market and buy some Norwegian makeral and use chunks of it for bait. Trust me on that.

Not much water below the dam and I wouldn't eat any fish from there now. If you get a good south wind fish the rock jetty or the point down from it. Over by the bird watching pier has also been good from the bank. Fish are trying to push shallow won't be long. Don't know what days you will be there but I might can help you with bait.
