I am heading down Saturday and will not come back until Tuesday. We will have a boat down there and I might bring my kayak. I was going to see if any of y'all know any good kayak spots to fish with artificial at. Has anybody been getting anything down there? If so then what kind of lures should I be throwing? I'm still trying to figure out how to locate speckled trout and redfish. I have no idea what to look for so any advice on that would help. Thanks guys.

For yak fishing, I would suggest putting in at Charlies at the end of Lane Rd. You can go almost straight across the intercoastal waterway right there. Once you go across, you'll be in a cut that goes to the bay. Before you get to the bay, the cut on your right is Shoalwater and the opening to the left is the Lagoon. Both are great kayak fishing spots as they are easy to get to and pretty protected from the winds.

Alright I might give that a shot. Is there more trout or reds around shaolwater? Or are they both there normally?

He is right, great kayak spots. right now both lagoons have been holding lots of reds. I would suggest in the clear shallow water a red/white, dirty tequila, or even some topwaters if you are just blind casting. as far as drifting or wading the lakes on the island have been holding good numbers of trout and reds.
If your down for multiple days and would be interested, I run Navigational trips in that area to show you how to get around safely without spending the day stuck, as well as some areas to key in on. give me a call if you would like more info. thanks and good luck.

Always reds in good numbers in both areas. Trout seem to move around in there a lot more. Seem to be more trout the farter east you get in Shoalwater.
