Received the Deeper Pro+ fish finder today and charging it up at this time. Haven't the foggiest idea on how to read a fish finder display. Went online (WikiHow) to educate myself on them. Still have several questions, but maybe it will become clearer when I use it. Took the Radar out fishing this morning. Wish I had discovered kayak fishing years earlier. The organization of my gear on the yak is such that I'm glad no one is around taking pictures.

Bill, Flukemaster on YouTube did a good review about a year ago. He may have done more than one but I am referencing the one he did from the bank.
Several people have noted they just turn off the fish identifier and focus in using the Deeper to determine water temp, depth and structure.
Since you will be in your kayak, I suppose what I might suggest is just hanging it over the side, no real need to cast it as the bank fishermen do.
Can't wait for a report once you learn the ins and outs.

Thanks for the input, Brad. Just hanging it over the side is a lot less risky than casting it. Will check out the Youtube video. Looks like I will be able to get out this afternoon, the sun is finally out.

Bill, hope you make it out.
One thing about fishing is just finding the obvious spots counts for a whole lot. So, you'll be able to find underwater brush, changes in depth and more. Likely, you'll build up an inventory of these spots, go to them automatically on lakes oyu fish a lot.
I need to get one!

I just used this exact one and I wasn't impressed with it. I had to send it back because I couldn't justify spending that amount of money. I'm hoping that they work out some of the kinks it has. I wanted it to work so bad because it could've filled the void when I'm not in the kayak.
My problems: Battery life, says it lasts five hours and I didn't get close to it. Sonar is subpar compared to a Lowrance in the same price range. The water sensors have to be free of any residue/dirt/ice/ you name it, they have to be clean or it won't register as being in the water.
Granted this is a portable device and by no means am I trying to bash it or compare it to a top of the line Lowrance. I actually wanted it to meet my expectations really bad because of its portability. But it fell short. Good luck with yours!

Bullet, thanks for your review. I will compare my experiences with Pro+ to your points. Will post here my findings. It will be next week before I can put the unit in the water.
