Wife and I will be in North Carolina next week visiting family. I have a 1/2 day or more to get out and do some fly fishing. Thinking Pisgah National Forest area SW of Asheville as the BIL is in school at Western Carolina. Any recommendations on rivers/streams and locations?
Any recommendations on patterns and bugs?

I used to live in Brevard. The Davidson River is a very pretty place. The public portion can be very technical and require some patience. It gets a lot of pressure. Dupont is another good option. If you are willing to hike you can catch some wild fish (brooks, bows, and browns). They won't be big, but you can't beat the scenery. Davidson and Headwaters flyshops are helpful. Good luck

On any of these spots I would still stop in the fly shops for more info. Avery Creek, Courthouse Falls, Panthertown Valley, the "Gorge" and I think BR Parkway may still be closed this time of year.
