Weather patterns have been changing every other day. Water temperatures are still on the cool side but warming up. So far I have not seen any sunfish on nest but I have found eggs in some Bluegill I was cleaning about a week ago. When in your opinion will the first spawn take place. Also how many spawns will take place this year? Side Note: Would love to see what anglers say living in other parts of the State!

I have not seen any sunnies on nest. I have also found some eggs in fish. Got a feeling within the next couple of weeks the first spawn will take place here in South Central Texas. Strongly feel we will see four spawns this year! Just my two cents.

I know the Crappie/White Bass spawn is on. The Bass should be or fixing to spawn right now. The saying goes after the bass leave the nest the sunfish take over.

Sunfish are definitely not spawning in North Texas. They were still deep and scattered this morning. I think we are a month away.

I've been testing the shallows a couple of times this week and I can't get a bite. This crazy weather, and now with some wet days in the forecast I'm thinking at least a couple weeks or more.
Just one more cast!

With the weather patterns this year, an April sunfish spawn is reserved for only the deepest parts of South Texas. The sunlight shouldn't be too much of a problem for once. It's going to be the water temp that is the key and I haven't seen any reports saying that this month is going to get those temps where they need to be.
