More than a year ago, J-More posted a clouser fly he tied, and he caught tons of white basses with it. So I asked J-More what was the color combination. He helped me out without any hesitation.

I hardly fly fished for a long while, I was chasing big striper mamas at Denison Dam with my home made poppers, bucktail jigs, spinners, etc. From time to time I would bring my fly rod with me, thinking to catch big stripers with fly fishing gears. But for so many times, I had to leave my fly gears in the car, because there were way too many people fishing shoulder to shoulder. So all the clouser flies I tied with J-More's color combo were left in the box, resting in peace.

Couple of days ago, my friend and I went night fishing at a local creek for hybrids. My friend did very good, catching his limit, but I did very poorly: BIG ZERO! When there fishing, some thoughts light me up: this is a perfect time, perfect location to catch big hybrids with my clouser flies. So on my off day today, I actually went fly fishing. Where, long story short, on my very first cast, I hook up and landed my PB hybrid: on a certified scare, the fish is measured at 24.25 inches, 7.13lb, pending a new TX state record on local water body. I fly fished for 3 hours, landed 5 hybrids, lost one at the bank, and had 3 break off. Overall, it was a happy day.

That's Elm Fork Trinity river below Lake Ray Robert. Lots people frequent that area. Lucky yesterday only my friend and I were fishing there, I had plenty room to move around.

True, flies worked much better yesterday. My tippet was damaged badly, I had to cut it off. I added 3 x 3' section of fluocarban line: 3' of 20lb + 3' of 15lb + 3' of 8lb.
