I've played around a bit over the years and never give anything else the time and effort it takes to get past the quirks of whatever I change to. Good ol' Berkley Big Game mono and Stren Power Pro braid is what I always end up reverting back to. Now, I just don't even bother looking at anything else. Big Game, usually in 25lb when i want good ol' brute strength for my big catfish rigs, and Power Pro when I want sensitivity for my chunk and wind rigs.
You might find it worth while to expand your horizons a bit, or more. But with change comes the aforementioned quirks to get used to, so only you can decide if it's worth trying. I found I'd rather buy tackle with that money instead of fishing line I don't know if I'll like.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

Different lines have different qualities. If the qualities of a particular line will enhance your particular style of fishing, you may wish to consider using it. Or not.

Don't look for an excuse to fix something that is not broke!

thank yall for the responces and yes I too feel the same about buying lures vs. fishing line...I usually buy 1000 yrd spool of the 17lb xt and have been very happy---and when I crappie fish I use 6 lb xl both in low vis green .I guess ill stick the mono for now until someone comes out with ...fire red hair from a wild read headed woman that withstands the toughest conditions..lol

The only reason I use braid is that for me, it is easier to cast on bait caster reels. I used to use braided Dacron.
