Fell out of the Hunter.
Was trying to take out, and the bank is about vertical in the only accessible spot, its like a one foot step. So the plan is to leave the motor on speed 3 pushing the nose against the rocks, step off, pull the boat up a bit then cut the motor. Easy right? Done it 100 times.
Its much easier when the water is lower you can glide the boat onto the bank and just step off, but with the water high on my little honey hole it forces you to make what I call "the leap of faith".
I am still not exactly sure how it happened, happened so fast. The water there is deep, drops off from the bank to 15+ feet almost straight down.
One minute I was on the boat and about to jump for shore, then next thing I know I am in 58 degree water, looking up at the sky from under the water. My first thought was "what the **** I am underwater!" then my next thought was "holy cow this is cold!!" lol
The shore there is rip-rap and I had a heck of a time climbing out in full soaked jeans, boots, several coats and my life jacket. Fell or slipped several times. Got a good deal of bruises for my effort.
Yeah I had the life jacket on. Not sure it helped much but had I been farther from shore, or the water been colder it would have.
Still not sure what went wrong... I mean I obviously lost my balance and took a wrong step. But I have tried to recreate it and I cant. Just happened like a flash.
Anyways yall be careful out there! It takes the blink of an eye for even an experienced bass hunter guy to end up in the drink.

If you do end up "recreating" it, make sure it's on video this time.

If you do end up "recreating" it, make sure it's on video this time. It was a sight to be seen I'm sure lol. That said I guess my main point is to wear your life jacket because I see a lot of guys in pond boats have them tucked under their chair something. Think of it like kayaking you just wear it the whole time.

In my Pelican Bass Raider, I wear the PFD when it's cold or when the water is rough. I define cold as anytime I won't jump into the lake to cool off. In the kayak, I wear a PFD all the time.

You would know this would happen in March. In July this would not be an issue.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

I know a few weeks has gone by but this is a great example. How many guys take the PFD off before climbing out of the boat? It wouldn't have done any good sitting in the floor of the bassbuster
Thanks for telling the story Dan90210
