Wondering about that myself. I almost drove up there today but decided to stay closer to home. Hit Canyon lake for a few hours but it was windy as all get out. Fished a local pond and caught four or five tiny largemouth bass. The biggest one was maybe six inches, the others were about four inches in length.

Headed out tomorrow if anyone wants to meet up. I plan on being at the RV park at 6:45ish and wading across and downriver and toss little jigs and spinners.

i havnt been to The Slab in years. last i knew, the sheriff had closed access/parking due to incidents with folks partying down there. never caught anything at the roadway... always waded downstream. the sandies would stack up in small pockets where the water was only a few inches deeper. you could also see them running tight to the shore line, but you had to cast quickly before they would sprint out of range. if you like to stalk.. what a great place smile
someone mentioned access through an RV park. is that the only place to legally park and reach the river?

I have always seen the most fishermen near the last part of retaining walls on the upper east side.

The RV Park was free parking...on lease from TPWD. Hiked down 2 miles and gave in...didn't even see a white or another fisherman. Still beautiful like I remember...maybe another week or two? Went to Hiline Pier after and caught a 10 pound carp...that was it for the day. But shore wuz purdy!!

Plenty of parking available just not in the riverbed.
