Myself and Clayton aka Wildman of the navidad fished a couple of places on the Guadalupe River. The sky was overcast and the temperature was in the 70's with a nice slight breeze. The current was strong. We hit a Sunfish spot and caught a few small sunnies. We then moved down river and Clayton pulled out a couple of his heavy rods. Clayton geared up for carp while I fished for sunnies. After chumming the water with corn Clayton put out three rods. Two baited with corn the other with cut bait. It did not take five minutes and he had a three pound Channel Cat. He then noticed a pole go down and the fight was on. He caught a Common Carp about 15 pounds. After catching a few more LARGE CARP and several more nice Chanel Cats Clayton nailed a SUPER CARP that was 33.5" in length. The fish put up one SUPER FIGHT ! The approx weight of the fish was about 20 lbs. A certified scale was not close by so only a Catch&Release Record along with a Big Fish Award will be applied for with the Texas Parks and Wildlife. Clayton caught a total of eight carp all over 15 pounds. I caught two nice carp myself including one approx 15 pounds on my Ultra Light with six pound test line and a size six brim hook. The fish almost spooled my reel. Really had to play with the drag! The last fish of the day was a Green Hybrid Sunfish that Clayton caught on the carp rod using corn. Yes corn. The Hybrid was 9" in length with a 8.6" girth. The certified weight of fish was .79 lbs. The Hybrid was not released. Paper work for the Green Sunfish Hybrid Record will be sent to The Texas Parks&Wildlife. A total of 10 HUGE CARP,Three very nice Channel Cat,and a couple of nice sunfish were caught. All the carp were released. The catfish and sunfish will find their way to the dinner table. After a SUPER day on the water he had a GREAT late lunch at the El Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant in New Braunfels. Fishing with the CARP MASTER Clayton and catching some HUGE fish. It just don't get any better!

And to think your last fish would be a PENDING RECORD Green Hybrid Sunfish caught on carp gear using corn! You SIR are the "MASTER"

Awesome!! Big fish on UL gear is a blast. My best is a 6.27lbs bass on bluegill UL set up. Reminds me of saltwater fishing for sailfish or marlin. Good times.

I've caught a few in the 5 to 6 lb. range on my 4 weight fly rod. Awesome fighters. Almost as good as hybrids. I want to join Gualdalupe river carp fest #2 And when you are ready we can do Lake Somerville Carp Fest #1. If the flow is shut off below the dam they will stack up and are easy to catch. I watched a guy catch about 5 or 6 big ones on dough bait one day. I have another secret spot that is fishable anytime. Congrats!!!!!

Myself and Clayton hit the Guadalupe yesterday and fought the wind! Clayton also BUSTED both his Catch&Release Carp Record and picked up the weight record on a 37", 25.24 Lb Common Carp! We had a certified scale very close by! Fish was released to fight again. HUGE CONGRATULATIONS Clayton on catching a fish of a LIFETIME!
