I know this topic comes up from time to time, but does anyone know if there is any real chatter on the possibility of a new impoundment in Texas at any point in the near future?

There is an approved one out here in Shackelford county but it keeps getting held up. Oil wells are all plugged, power lines moved and now nothing. If they ever build it will be a pretty lake. Like a mini PK.

The Lower Bois d'arc Creek Reservoir had a lot of momentum going but has recently stalled.
With the population growth in Fannin and Collin counties, I do think it will happen (hopefully in my lifetime)

Near Glen Rose, I understand it's a deep lake stocked with some walleye. Never been on it personally.

To the OP's topic next big reservoir is Marvin Nichols in east texas but probably serveral years away from becoming a reality.

I suspect that with Scott Pruitt now over the EPA and the reductions on regulations proposed this will speed up the process on the Lower Bois d'arc Creek reservoir project... just my opinion.

Another proposed lake is Ralph Hall reservoir which would be built just north of Ladonia, about 80 miles northeast of Dallas. Here is a good map which shows both LBCR and RHR:

Hmm,
After the floods below Sam Rayburn, you would think common sense would be to build a new lake on the Sabine River above Rayburn.
But common sense will doom that. . .

Not a reservoir, but would lend itself to recreational opportunities: Red River Navigation

Turkey Peak is also in the works. It's basically just an addition to Lake Palo Pinto, but still, new water!
