Yesterday, I was finally able to take my Lowrance Hook 4 that I got for Christmas out on the lake. The problem I had was - HOW DOES ANYONE GET ANY FISHING DONE WHEN IT'S SO COOL TO LOOK AT THE SCREEN????

But seriously, my eyes were glued to the screen most of the time and actual fishing time was a lot less. I'm sure that the novelty of the new toy will wear off. I didn't catch any fish but neither did most of the people I talked to at the ramp. The Hook 4 worked great but I'm already thinking of getting a sidescan unit next Christmas.

yup i catch more fish with a fishfinder. i used to catch zero. now i can get 1 0r 2. anyways my next finder is this. heard as good as a hds

Why do they call them "fish finders"? They should be called Structure finders (which hold fish). I have a Helix 5 SI and it works well in both salt and fresh. Love mine. Have found fish holding to structure 20-100 feet away.
