Just had a gigantic flock of sandhill cranes and snow geese fly over my house here in Mansfield. Easily 250 birds, most likely many more. Heard them coming for a while. Flew directly over my house.

Extremely cool.

I used to hunt the sandhill cranes in west texas when I was a kid. Always loved the sounds they made when flying over. cheers

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

We used to hunt cranes right outside Muleshoe close to the refuge in bailey county. They are way better tasting than ducks or geese.

Only parts up north. Down here it's Chuck-wills-widows.

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

Just make sure they are good and dead before you walk up on them. Them suckers can put a whooping on you.

I've seen some geese lately but no cranes yet. It snowed today, it's not spring yet.

Are they really good eating? I've never tried it. I do love ribeye, though!

Yes they are very tasty. Not ribeye but a good rich red meat that has very little games taste.
