Sporadic at the moment.

There are reports of early SMALL runs on the Bosque (small males) but the main run hasn't started yet. I believe it'll be starting this upcoming weekend if the weather temps stay up!

I've spoken to dozens of local anglers and they're all saying the same thing.

I've been going to the Middle Bosque almost every day and would agree with cprems. Last Friday my son and I caught 28, all after 4 PM. We just happened to find a spot where the whites were stacked up in about 12 feet of water. Boats around us were catching fish but not near as frequently as we were. It was just dumb luck that I happened to be looking at the graph when slow trolling and saw the "clutter" on the bottom. At first I thought it was just a brush pile but decided to try anyway. Fish started hitting immediately and we never hung up on anything so I guess the "brush" was actually fish. We were fishing straight down with an 1/8 oz jig tipped with minnows. Ran out of minnows and switched to various colors of jigs and had some luck but nothing like the minnows.
I went out again on Saturday and Sunday and caught enough to be fun but nothing like Friday. My feeling is that the whites have not started the "real" run just yet. Again, I think cprems is correct on the upcoming weekend. In fact, I'm almost certain it will be this weekend since I cannot go fishing. Somehow the fish find out I can't fish and decide to start up. Happens every year!

Thanks for the information, it's greatly appreciated. We do a lot of bank fishing and it helps everyone out whether they bank fish or use a boat.

Gotta love it when they start running. I might have to drag the yak out.

Had to work this weekend. It looks like the weather was pretty cool also. Did anyone get out and fish? Any updates?

Went today and caught 7 ditch pickles. no whites but was talking to other anglers saying that they hammered them yesterday at the Middle Bosque. This cold front has really put a bind on the bite.

Also getting reports of the whites making it up to the second set of cliffs in the middle Bosque. Haven't seen any females this year but hearing reports that they've started showing up. Sounds like the spawn has started. I'll be going up river on foot tomorrow to scout out more areas and to see what's going on up there.

If anyone has anymore information, please post so we can all get out and have fun catching whites in Waco.

Seine some river minnows and thread it on a jig and retrieve slow during these cooler days.

I walked the bank of the Middle Bosque up to the cliffs. I didn't see a single white bass. I threw everything that I had, at them. I even fished past the cliffs (the water falls) and didn't get a bite. They've either moved upstream or their holding out somewhere.

Spoke with several anglers who have said that the bite has been almost non existent since the cold front moved through.

This is the first year of fishing at the Middle Bosque that I haven't caught a white this late into the "spawn." I'm beginning to wonder if I've missed it?

There has not been many females caught, that I have heard. Ten days ago there were only 4 out 50 we caught there were females. I really think the girls are not quite ready. The water temperature Sunday was only 54 degrees. They got their fresh water but the temperatures have been on a roller coaster. I think the best is to come.

Man, I hope so. The temps have been all over the place. I've been waiting all year for this spawn. We don't have a boat and we rely on our feet and information from fellow anglers. The kids love fishing and I got them hooked 3 years ago. It makes a wonderful bonding moment when you watch your son catch his first white bass.

As always, keep 'em coming!
