Or I guess I could cut the red meat out when filleting them. Anyone else been fishing?

I fished Saturday 2-18 but only caught one LMB under the limit. I think we started too late in the morning.
The guy that was fishing with me caught a fat, healthy 16" LMB in about 10 feet of water, early afternoon, with a crankbait, in a steep drop-off area near a brush pile. We did not think to weigh it until after he released it.

I took my daughter out on Monday afternoon from 2-5 and we ended up with 15. She is still learning how to fish a Texas Rig and missed quite a few fish. A couple of well experienced fisherman could have easily had 20-25 fish. We only fished with plastic worms. She was using a purple/motor oil colored worm and I was going in between a June Bug and a solid black color. Most of the fish we caught were in the newly covered brush/sticks around 2-5'.
Edit: Forgot to mention that we only caught 2 that were worth talking about. She got one that was 1.23 and I got one that was 1.48 lbs. The rest were around a pound or smaller.

Fished Sunday morning from 9:30-10:30 using plastics, both Texas rig and shakey head jig. Caught three, with the one in the picture being the largest. I am no expert but this one looked like a female with eggs, very fat under where my left hand is at. All fish released.

Nice job. Looks like a female to me too. I really wanted to go fishing this past weekend,but...My first real hard hitting flu started Friday. Oh man! I will get the vaccine next time. Flu don't play around. Tuesday at noon is when I started feeling normal again.

Not to get off topic, but don't feel too bad about skipping the flu shot. There is a strain going around that was not covered by the flu shots this season so those who had the shot could have caught it anyway. I just got over it myself; I was laid up in bed for two days with a fever, then it took about a week to get back to normal.
I am not saying flu shots are useless. On the contrary, I get one every year. They just do not always cover all of the strains that are around.
Back on topic... I hope to hit Medina again this weekend, hopefully early in the morning. I'll report back if I do.
