I have 12 year old Basscat Pantera Classic BassBoat that I will sell for 20K. Well outfitted and runs great. About 450 hours on a 200 EIF. Starts, in 2-3 seconds every time. Better than average batteries. See sig for boat. Cash talks.

And you need $50,000 pick up to pull it.

Kinda glad I'm on the bank now. A few dollars for worms and soft drinks, my rocking chair to sit in and I'm all set

There's a guy in for sale section asking 27,000 for an 11 year old center console. Anyone who pays that is a fool.

I've always thought $15k-$20k was the sweet spot for bass boats. Lots of folks who can't spend $15k, or will spend way more than $20k. When you get in the market segments with lots of buyers, the prices get inflated (see housing for an example). But in the middle where only a few folks are looking, you can get a boat that's not much older than a $30k rig and much, much nicer than a $10k rig.

I've thought about selling my boat. Looked in the classifieds and there is one similar to it yet a year older. Less graph's, less TM, and a whole lot of other things that make it inferior to mine and they want pretty much what I paid for mine 7 years ago...

Lol my head is hurting trying to figure it out...

Maybe mine is worth more than what I paid?

It's getting stupid...

ever noticed how 20 year old boats sell for close to what they sold for new? Seems after adjusting for inflation you'd almost get your money back at some point. I've not ever tracked it or anything, just wondering out loud

That's what I'm saying...

I bought my boat used in '10.

It's an '08.

How in the world can I fish out of it, drag it all over Texas and it's value has increased?

My vehicles don't do this!

My next boat will have 90k worth of Graph's on it so Drodge can catch a fish over 4 pounds at Falcon.

The new boat prices make the used boat prices go up. The new boat prices are insane.

My old boat has:

Humminbird 1199 at the trolling motor. $1,700 new
Humminbird 998 at the console. $1,200 new
Humminbird 798 HD in the console. $800 new
Humminbird 360 on the back. $1,200 new
Minn Kota Ultrex trolling motor. $2,600 new
Humminbird 5 port Ethernet switch ties the above together. $250 new
Minn Kota 12' Talon. $1,600 new

If I were to sell I'd have to take everything off to meet a buyer's price expectations.

I took off two 8' Talons, an 80lb Fortrex and a non-HD 798 plus an $1,100 carpet job to upgrade the boat over the winter.

why? have you looked at the boat? what is on it? he could have 10k in graphs alone.

I own an 82 champion 184, 96 johnson 175 fast strike and have updated the entire boat so that it will compare with any new boat for "goodies".

I have put over 16,000.00 total in it since nov. of 09 when I bought it and would not sell it for less than 9,500.00

find ANY other 18'6" out there and lets see how they stack up.

people amaze me that the newest is always the best, sometimes it is wiser to stop and look closely at what is actually there.

I bought new one time, and one time only, back in '97. I'm glad that I learned from my mistake. Buying used takes time to find that right deal. They are out there. You just gotta keep looking and be diligent in your search. Now, if I were loaded, I'd buy new. But I ain't!

The price of a similarly equipped Skeeter like mine has gone up 20k since mine was new. I bought mine two years old and it has hardly lost any value in the 11 years I've owned it. It comes down to do you want to spend 60k or 20k?

I don't want to hear this nonsense. There is a 10 year old Nitro, in great condition, for sale in the boat section listed for the bargain price of $14K. Plus it's been for sale for over three years now, so I bet you'd have a little negotiation leverage. Sure, it's ugly as sin... but most of us are trying to catch fish out of a boat not pick up chicks so no big deal right?!

Selling mine is the only way I can afford a new one. Looking at a new 20 foot Phoenix that seems to be priced right but trade in on my 14 year old was only $6k. Book it out and it is more than double that price.

I have bought two new ones. First was a Champion 202 in 1997. I sold it 17 years later and got way more than I expected to. I was dead set on buying a used Center Console, but the ones that fit my needs were few and far between. I shopped for 8 months. The ones I did find that I was willing to purchase were nearly as much as a new one, so I ended up buying new again. I don't regret it, there is some comfort having new with warranty and knowing nothing has been abused or patched up. One would think used ones would depreciate like cars, but appearantly they don't. As long as people pay the price, boats will remain expensive. What is mind boggling is the price of those wake boats that litter the lakes.

Yeah the prices are crazy! That's why I went the more economical way and spent $4,000.00 on a plastic kayak!

What he said. That's what drives up used boat prices. I had a 92 Ranger I sold in 08 when I bought my 07 BassCat. I could get as much for that old Ranger today as I got for it 10 years ago.

The time of year has a lot to do with prices. Its spring fever time, which means its a sellers market. You want a killer deal, start looking to buy a boat in September and October. I bought an 11 year old Skeeter ZX225 last fall for less than $19k, the boat blue booked for $24k.

Hop , you are correct in that accessories would help price That center console posting just struck me as posting says motor has low hours but then in signature guy is a guide. Also boat looked well broken in.

Thats why I could only afford the TZX 190 2004 model, still probably paid too much but after looking forever at a bigger I couldn't fins my price point. I looked at boats that were late 90s models and they were asking 14-18k.

Need to look at some off brands that might not command a premium price. I bought my 98 Cobra 201d 4.5 years ago for 11K and put about 3K into it. Love it dearly and it will be paid for in 6 months, so I am estatic. Lots of decent boats out there, and like said not really the right time to buy now due to spring fever.

What I don't understand is why are people willing to drop $60k + on something that basically has changed very little in the past 30-40 years. I get that most all hulls have gone composite, but that all took place in the late 90's. A mid to late 90's hull with brand new electronics and motor would do exactly the same as a new modern hull with the same electronics.

With that said, I'd love to have a brand new Skeeter, but just don't have enough free time to justify buying a new boat. My old beater will have to do for now.

You should see what people's asking prices are for offshore CCs. I'm in the market for a Contender right now, and prices range from dammmmmmmmmmn, to you gotta be kidding me.

I caught 6 yesterday, all on a jig, and not a single one was even close to measuring.

That's a low blow... EM is a cesspool of a lake

roflmao don't feel bad. I had a tourney on lake Stamford and in the two days of practice never caught a bass.

maybe a weather/fishing report would have helped? roflmao

if the boat looked worn then that is a really high price.

easy to find out hrs on a newer motor, most all I think will download all info to a puter.

Sounds like we need a poll to pick a lake and set up a TFF OT tournament.

Of all the dates in march I have a Bud Light tournament on Ray Bob that day. Never fished Palestine and when Fork won I hoped they would change it to Palestine. bang

Could have a little to do with how much some popular boat accessories are now. 10-12" screen depthfinders, Power Poles etc. You can easily add $10,000-15,000 in accessories alone these days.

Everything holds its value, until you try to sell it. I want a new to me boat but it just don't make sense right now. I want to buy a good used 2007 in 2025 or so so I can be ready to retire, so y'all take care of my future beauty!!!

You repowered, I figured you were keeping for a while. I would love a new rig but being I'm now a poor man with poor man ways I must restrain myself. I'm thinking a 519 next with a 225. I'll let you know first.

A mid to late 90's hull with brand new electronics and motor would do exactly the same as a new modern hull with the same electronics.

With that said, I'd love to have a brand new Skeeter, but just don't have enough free time to justify buying a new boat. My old beater will have to do for now.

Because some people have money and enjoy spending it on their hobby. My fishing partner ordered a new Ranger couple years ago, had the rod box modified at the factory to accommodate longer rods. I think he paid 70K plus after power poles, Graphs etc.

He usually buys an new boat about every 8 years.

it is really no different than any other luxury item people have. Cars, Boats, Yachts, Golf, etc.. Hobbies are what help us relax and enjoy our life with friends, family, etc. My brother and I both received inheritances from our grandfather about 17 years ago. Brother had a good job and lots of money and no wife/kids, so he bought a 50K Corvette and still has it and loves it. I used mine as a downpayment on a larger house.
