I had Butch and Russ out today to looking for some crappie. Those guys were really good crappie fisherman and they caught all kinds of crappie and on all kinds of patterns and depths today. They limited out around 11:30 and boated a few hundred crappie. Fish were caught on curly tails, straight tails, on the bottom and up high in the water column, some on the fall, some fished really slow and some fished a little faster. Fish were just all over the place on several different pattern in the same morning. We had a bunch of large fish hooked today and lost a lot of the really big ones. Did land a lot of smaller gar as well on jigs and light tackle. Also had a guy fishing next to us hook a giant blue cat that he fought for at least 20 minutes before he ever saw it. Once he realized it was a big cat I moved over and netted it for him. Fish of a lifetime for him and caught on an ultra light, crappie jig and 6 lb test line. Fish was just ounces short of 40 lbs. Really glad I could help him out. Great day of fishing today.
