WillEng,

Bring lots of bug spray, they can be fierce in the flooded bottoms with the mild temps we've been having.

Ya they like to sun themselves on the creek banks.

I guess this rain isn't going to help open NB parking lot anytime soon...

Shut up and fish!

Took Thursday morning to make a run to the creek and saw that the whitebass are moving up.

I didn't catch any whitebass but the best bite has been later in the day anyway.

Not sure if the creeks will produce much by this weekend if they are all still running high and stained but it will not be very long before limits will be caught.

Lots of erosion and mud everywhere between all the dead trees that have fallen from the high winds last Monday morning.

Looks like a war zone so be very careful when working your way back to the honey hole.

On Thursday morning and again on Friday morning I ventured up into two different little feeder creeks of Lake Somerville to check on the spawning whitebass.

Based on what I saw both mornings the stage is set for the annual whitebass spawning run to begin in earnest over the next few weeks. Another major rain event will seal the deal for the fish and put the 2017 run in the history books as a success at least for the fish and Mother Nature but the fishermen will have to earn their success up the creeks for themselves...

This is not as easy as it looks wink

Gook Luck & Tight Lines to you all!

I fished Cedar creek this morning for a couple hours and only caught 1 white bass. I went back this evening and tried again. I worked a lot of creek and only ended up catching 4. I talked to lots of fisherman this morning and a few again this evening. Hardly any white bass were caught. Very disappointing.

I'm tied up with home duties this whole weekend so the fish will have to wait until Monday at the earliest.. I know they are in there somewhere!

I heard the Yegua is running pretty swift right now and is real muddy. Not so good for bank fishing.

I fished the Nails Creek WMA above 125 today. I worked my way up about a quarter mile or so and didn't get a bite so I gave up.

I headed over to Cedar about 1:30 and fished my favorite spot. I ended up catching 9 in that spot in an hour. Including a big female. I went to a different spot and fished for another 45 minutes without a bite and gave it up for the day. Still nothing great but a lot better than yesterday.

J-Moe, thanks. Do you know when they will reopen Newman's Bottom again?

No, I have not checked on this. I would assume it will be closed until the Lake level gets back close to normal. I'll try to check on this.
