Tough day Wednesday. Fish seem scattered. Trolled, slabbed... Finally found a school and caught seven beautiful whites in about 5 minutes then they moved and that was it. Two of these were 15" - all had eggs.

Thursday very windy. Caught 15 immediately slabbing. Then they came shallow and I hit em with a spec rig. Had a limit in a little over an hour. 20 of them had eggs. All fish 12-15".

I woulda gone out today but this wind is something else!

Nice catch. My buddy and I picked up 20 Wednesday also. It was a nice day, but slow fishing. We were in a 18ft. PARTI CRAFT toon with minn-Kota on front. I do not remember what you run. That wind was tough today.
I stayed at the house today.

Very cool! I've been finding them in schools mixed with striper in deep water. They seem to be moving really fast though.. Catching 5 or 6 at a time then having to relocate. I'm mostly after Stripers though.

What part of the lake were you fishing? How is it west of Cranes Mill Park? Thanks.

And Bilboinsa, welcome to the TFF. I was meaning to ask you if you hung it in shady neighborhoods like this.

Ha! My daughter just took off for a school event. My son needs to get up and leave for his by 7:30. Then I am out the door with a new bag of sassies and flukes. Gonna be cool out there this morning!

I use sassy shads and flukes for those suspended striper, they love them!

Well it was another shutout. I tied off on some trees west of Cranes Mill Park. About 18 ft. Threw a variety of jigs, roadrunners and slabs. Nothing. I untied and repeatedly wind drifted ( it was quite strong) where my Humminbird told me there were pretty good holes (40ft.+) and lurking fish in mid depth and on bottom. Again jigged and slabbed a lot. Also let a roadrunner "troll" deep via the wind. No help.

Switched over to the the east side of the same channel (just south of the fishing dock) and played the drift game for about an hour. Nothing. Picked up a friend at the marina, and we fished the timbers that line the entry to the river's mouth. Zip.

I am convinced that the fish have identified me as the enemy, and that they are talking amongst themselves....

Sounds like my reports, Bilboinsa. I search all over the place around all sides of Cranes Mill Park and can't find them. I did manage at few up at the rapids Thursday, but wish I could avoid the 11 mile 30 minute run up there and just stay in the lake. Guess they don't like me either

Try all the way down by the Marina on Cranes mill.. Lots of birds working. We knocked out the striper there and a few whites.. It's always a hunting game. Look for birds as well. They are giving good schools away right now.

Canyon is a tough game. Stick with it, use your graph and hit the likely spots. Carry your cast net if you happen to see shad. Bring binoculars and keep an eye for birds. Falling barometer and/or low pressure usually turns them on.

Use boat ramp #11 to avoid long upriver run. I suggest 4WD at this ramp and watch out for moccasins!

Yes, I could and have done that but it's a 30 minute drive to the ramp then another 12 minutes via boat to the rapids. That's why I just launch from 10 and 30 minutes later I'm fishing the rapids. Thanks for the tip.
