Plan on buying a pro angler rod tomorrow not sure what size to get though. I do mostly bank and barge fishing. Just wanted to hear what yalls opinions were. Never used a pro angler, but have heard nothing but good things about them.

I would get both. I use the 8 footer for fishing brush piles and the 10 ft. for slow trolling and shallow fishing during the spawn pitching a bobber.
They are great rods that I have used for years with no problems.
They are a bargain and really hold up well over the years.
It's the rod I depend on day in, day out, in my guide business.
You can't go wrong with these rods.
Quick service and they stand behind their product!
Usually only takes a couple of days to get to your front door and I believe the shipping is free! thumb

I'm always in a good mood when I'm fishing.

Don't know what the barge looks like but an 8 fter can be a little cumbersome inside with a low ceiling. For fishing boat houses or barges, the 6.5 may be easier to handle. You will enjoy the rods in either size.

10' if fishing 15' or less 8' if fishing more than 12'. My favorite rod is 4'6"

I think you'll struggle to manage a 10 footer in a fishing barge/house. The 8' PA is a fantastic rod! That would be my pick.

I use a 4'6" Ugly Stik for barge fishing, as I'm always slamming it into the ceiling with missed hooksets. That paired with braided line, is sensitive enough to feel most bites.

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Like most of the replies, I believe a shorter rod would be better for barges. A 10' would be great off of the bank during the spawn though.
Maybe you should buy both!

I have the 4'6" dock shooter and use it primarily under bridges so I don't bust my rod tip. I ordered a 10' and it arrived the evening before I was supposed to go fishing. Unfortunately the USPS turned the 2 piece rod into a 4 piece. I called ProAngler and sent them a pic of the rod and box it was shipped in and they are sending another. I can't wait to try it!

I use my 8' PA in boat houses, but you have to pay attention. The 5.5' PA is an awesome rod that I use in boathouses and dock shooting. The 8'ers are my favorite though.
