Has anyone mentioned the crappie spawn is on, along the I-20 corridor east & west.

I caught 15 Wednesday night shallow male and females mixed, and another 17 this morning before the wind blew me off the lake. All 12"s or bigger.

North end of the lake on the east bank, where all the warm water is.

I caught them today in 3ft. water. They had their dress colors on and you could tell some had been fanning the nest.

Cleaned one yesterday that had orange colored eggs and blood lines through the eggs and a scraped tail. Also cleaned a few more that had bright yellow eggs. Have checked shallow cove behind the house daily... No fish in 3 FOW water yet...

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Money can't buy you happiness, but it can rent you something so damn close you'll never be able to tell the difference.

Yea i went there a couple of days ago, water covering 2nd bridge, pure mud. Went on to Hubbard Creek, creek was pure mud too.
Ended up at Lake Leon, water was clear at the dam area.

Do y'all think the cooler weather next week will affect the bite. Thinking of taking a couple days off work

First few days after a front will be tougher fishing than before the front. Always try to go before the front hits if you are looking shallow especially this early in the spring.
