So, made my third trip to Beavers bend, two within the last two months. This time I ditched the spin cast and picked up a Redington starter kit from the fly shop there in the park. Super good people. I flailed along for three days learning to cast and by day three was gettin "OK" at it. Still tons to learn though. And then this happened During my back cast (or whatever you call it), I unknowingly snagged a bush. On my forward cast I felt resistance then heard a crunch. All before I could react. This rod came with a two year warranty, but I doubt they cover bush snags. Time to save up for another I suppose.

Have you contacted Redington? They may be able to fix it for small fee.

Reddington can probably sell you a new section of rod to replace the broken part, instead of having to replace the whole rod. If you have only 1 fly rod/reel, I don't think you are an addict. I just started fly fishing around Christmas time and now I have 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8 weight setups. I am not an addict though. I can quit any time.

Txfour glad they are fixing you back up! When it comes time for rod two look at t.f.o. Texas based and lifetime no fault warranty. Although I don't recommend it you could loose a big fish get mad and snap it into 10 pieces and they will fix it. If you do this I would definitely seek anger management LOL but you seemed pretty calm about this one so I think you will be OK. Welcome to the club.Mckinney shoot me a pm when you get a chance.

Glad Redington is fixing it. There seems to be a lot of good companies and people in fly fishing. I broke my first rod shortly after getting it. It didn't even have a warranty, but it still only cost me $25 to get it fixed.

I have found that most companies bend over backwards to fix or replace rods. We were fishing the Missouri last year and a rod fell out of the back of a pickup and was run over by the next car. Owner called Simms and told them exactly what happened. They replaced it for free.
