The way I understand it the talapia spawn when the water temp is between two ranges not just once a year but basically the whole time the water is warm and in that lake this year it maybe all year long. I could be wrong but I've heard that before.

The Tilapia spawn there on a CONTINUOUS basis. Female blue tilapia can spawn within 2 wk.intervals when the water is in the low 80's 80--84 degrees Fahrenheit is a good spawning temp for them and at Squaw creek they have a good portion of the spring to do that. I think the shallows get in the 90's during the summer which may affect them but they are not hurting. Check the big moon-crater beds and watch to see if they are on them. They move in and out frequently. I would say that the morning time is best before the sun gets high on the beds. Take you a pool thermometer out there on a long string and toss it in. I would say that now is a great time to get out there before it gets too warm. PM me for more details. I live down the road from Squaw and fish it frequently. I would imagine it to be in the higher 80s now but haven't checked. Got a freezer full of Tilapia.
