That's what confused me when I first moved here 20 years ago. I saw the Hurst / Useless / Bedford water towers and was absolutely confused me going "Hey... um... wait.. what???"

Scared to death we were getting an HEB in McKinney as they bought the old Tom Thumb property. They were forced to close because Albertson bought Tom Thumb and Market Street making too many Albertsons here - antitrust thing. However, Tom Thumb is moving back into it, which makes me happy. I'm pretty sure Trump had something to do with it! HEB is a good store but has a way of running the rest out of town once they get established. If you don't believe me, check out San Antonio.

I don't see the problem with HEB running everyone out of town. They have good products, great pricing, and are a Texas owned company. They give a tremendous amount of money to charities and the community, and employ over 76,000 employees. Not too sure what there is to be fearful of.
Team wolfs I had to perform. It took a minute to get it all in my mouth and another five to swallow it all.

they run em out because they are the best at what they do. They wont mess up their brand by moving in before they have everything in place. I love the company - HEB corporate is full of forward thinking folks who will win any area they pursue. Not trying to do too much at once has kept them in a very strong position.
Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

And as to another point, HEB is based out of SA...that's why they are so prevalent here. As elcoyote mentioned they donate a lot of $ to all kind of causes/charities around here. There is a huge super Walmart and a HEB across the street from each other where I live. On any given day the Walmart parking lot is usually half full where as the HEB parking lot is always full. People have a choice, but it seems they choose HEB. I still shop at Walmart, but 95% of my grocery shopping is done at HEB. And like I mentioned in another post, their house brand stuff is not only cheaper than name brand stuff...it usually is much better quality too.

Not any H.E.B in my area. I have heard a lot of good things about them as a company. As far has the Jewish "HeeB" reference. I learned that term from Mel Brooks movies. Most of which I can quote line for line. BTW should we find Cracker Barrel offensive?

Kind of how a lot of people pronounce Bexar county as Bex-are. It's pronounced BEAR like the bear. I hear a lot of people now locally pronounce it that way, so I guess all those Californians haven't caught on just yet! H.E.B. took over south Texas years ago and have a strong hold, but have been moving north for several years now.
Just one more cast!
