They have been in the creek for a couple of weeks. Our other local lakes should have them in the creek soon if they are not now.

Just got a yell out from my uncle, he went to the 31 bridge at the Neches, said the big girls are up the river now. Thanks LipRip!

Ran up Denton Creek in my small boat yesterday, made it up to the 377 bridge. Quite a few boats with gas motors running up and down the creek, most guys were very nice, 2 ran past us full speed, about swamped us. Never got a bite, but one boat who was coming back down has a big stringer of sandies, mostly smaller males. A few guys were catching crappie on brush piles. Still have a fun time. Gonna wait abaout 2 weeks and try it again, they should be in by then.

I hit it Sunday and got 20 from the bank at the hole on purple and green paddle tails. Kept 12 of the bigger ones. get ready to walk if you go. It was an hour and twenty minute walk back to the parking lot. Sure glad I didn't keep more

The spot referenced is usually the one west of 377 where Henrietta and Denton creek come together.
Easy to see on Google maps.
But keep it a secret for us only, LOL

Here is my Throw back Thursday story, although it's late Wednesday.

My first trip to Denton creek and Sand bass fishing was probably back in 1974 when I was in Junior High.
We stopped at the Roanoke Drive-in grocery store at the end of Oak St and where 114 used to run.
After grabbing some snacks and buying a few extra Fle-Fly Jigs we drove up 377 and parked along the railroad tracks. From there it was a race to the creek and find the best spots.
The Fle-fly jigs would really catch em good but you had to find the right color depending on what the water was that day. A few trips we started further North by the bridge along 338 and that bridge is long gone now. Big stringers of Sandies to drag out just about every trip.

I should probably make one more run up that creek just for old time sake.
Good luck to those headed out there this spring and hope to hear of some good reports.

We used to go west all the time but a couple years back they posted signs at the railroad tracks and i read somewhere theybwere ticketing people for parking down below the road instead of up north in the parking lot.
