I am a member of Private Water Fishing (privatewaterfishing.com) and had the opportunity to fish three locations in the San Antonio/Austin area this month. Here are the results.

I had the opportunity to fish three properties (Blackjack, Post Oak, and Escondido) over the past three days and I had a blast. Over these three days, I have caught over 40 fish with probably five around 8 lbs.
Lake Escondido
First, what a great property. Multiple clusters of standing timber with some isolated ones also. I found depths to 32 ft towards the pier.
Caught 12 and culled only 1 which was 13". Three of the keepers were close to 20" and most of the others were 3-4 lbs.
Just like my recent trips to Blackjack and Post Oak, the rattletrap was very successful as I caught over half on it. This time I fished it with a steady retrieve. Others were caught on a spinner and a shallow running crank bait. I lost 1-2 on a jig and also on the rattle trap. Most were caught in 8-12 ft between the standing timbers.
Fished Post Oak on February 6th from 8 until around 2.
Caught a total of 24 with the majority on either a rattletrap in sexy shad or a Klone craw (green with red flecks) on a jig head.
Also had some luck with a Zara spook and a chatter.
The biggest was about 21" and is the 3rd place fish in the contest. I beat the one I caught yesterday at Giddings which had been in 3rd place. Most likely my 3rd place fish will be beaten with so much time left in the contest.
Fished Blackjack on February 5 from 8AM until 3PM.
Around 10:30 tied on a large rattletrap in sexy shad and caught two 5# and missed another nice one that felt large but never surfaced. These were caught near the brush pile nearest the dam. Broke for lunch and tried the same area, but no takers. Caught a 4# on the rattletrap about 15 yards off the dam. Then I remembered about a trough about 20 yards off the bank on the pier side. Switched to a medium crank (blue, gold, silver) and caught the first 8#. Caught the next 8# on the rattletrap about 20 yards in front of the pier. Caught the last 4# on the same rattletrap.
