What an interesting late winter this is! I actually caught the first bed fish of 2017 for my boat yesterday. Also caught a topwater fish on a whopper plopper. Most of our bites are coming on weightless tx rigged stick baits. The one I'm using is the smashtech smash stick with watermelon red being our best color. There are also fish being caught on chatterbaits spinnerbaits and some buzz bait fish as well. With all the recent warming trends we are fishing in the very backs of creeks and pockets with flat, shallow water. So keep an open mind and be cognizant of the recent weather trends and water temps. Also we have reached the time of year where the moon phases play a very big role in fish movement. We should have a fresh group coming in this weekend as there is a new moon Monday I believe. The lake is beginning to get very crowded early this year but it is great to see folks out there enjoying how the lake is fishing right now. It will make it tougher and that's where those weightless plastics come in handy. Be sure to check out the yourlakeforkguide YouTube channel on Wednesday as on this weeks episode of the guide's network I go into detail on the baits and how we go about squeezing out a few more bites in highly pressured areas. Here's a video from yesterday's action as well, hope y'all enjoy.

Great video, Billy, lots of info for us newbies. We were on Fork for the first time last weekend and managed 1 apiece for the 3 of us. We fished about mid lake and covered some awesome looking spots but we were obviously too early,we will be back! We did spank the big white bass on slabs, close to a 100 in between bass fishing sessions.

Fork can certainly humble you more than any lake I've fished. It can also reward you more than any lake I've fished. Stay with it and your reward is coming! Thanks guys!

Wow! A bedfish. I saw some places Thursday that looked like had been started, but vacated. It has really warmed up over there and looks like it will continue.

Amen to this. I have come down from MN with a couple family members to fish Fork for a week in the spring each of the last three years. Each time has been a grind to say the least. We have caught some okay fish, but nothing in the realm of what Fork is known for. Never seems to fail that we are either there too early, a massive cold front rolls through the day we arrive, or the wind is blowing so bad that a majority of the lake is not fish-able for us. With out fail, we planned for the first week of April this year and now the spawn is looking to be much earlier than usual.

Your videos give me hope for a good trip this year, keep up the great work.

I know Steve it's surprising but I anticipate more jumping on beds next week with the forecast and the new moon on Sunday.
