Heading to Richland Chambers Saturday for the first time. Tried doing research on the lake but it appears to be mainly a white/hybrid type lake. I always thought it had a good fishery of bass. Apparently not. Anybody in that area that can give me a heads up of water clarity, temperature and vegetation? Trying to avoid packing my whole arsenal if possible. Thanks.

This time of year, just concentrate on flipping shallow water stumps with Lizards. It doesn't get any easier. Look on a map for places where there is deep water near by. The wind is supposed to blow pretty hard on Sunday out of the South, so get up on those southern shores and flip, flip, flip, if it's clear throw watermelon, if it's dingy throw blue fleck.

Cool thanks. The water clarity changes that drastically? Is there any vegetation in the lake or is it mainly a tree/stump type lake? After looking at your post again...I get the feeling that was just a general post about fishing this time of year?

We just went thru a 5 year drought plus Richland Chambers drops dramatically each summer so it's very hard to get grass when water fluctuates like that. It takes a couple of years of steady water levels to get grass growing.

Water can change that drastically depending on rain and where you are on the lake. And, while you might take it as a general post for the time of year, it will work on Chambers. Lots of spots on that lake that will produce fish if you know them and how to get to them. What David told you will get you some bites without you tearing your boat up or spending a lot of time "looking" for spots you won't find on the map.

I wasn't knocking his advice. I was inquiring whether or not it was general knowledge or specific to the lake. If I came off like that...those were not my intentions. I appreciate any help I can get.

I spent all day Friday and all day Saturday on the water and absolutely wore them out. Caught a few 5's and 1 7lb. All the fish I caught were in 1 to 5 ft of water. Started out flipping a rage craw into grass mats then bumped up to a 1/2 oz hack attack jig. Color was mostly green pumpkin but caught a few off watermelon red. Also caught some on docks on the first 3-4 sets of posts coming from the bank. Not sure on the water temp I have no electronics but I read a weekly fishing report saying the water was in the mid 50's or so (can't remember exactly). Water clarity wasn't bad maybe 1.5 ft visibility. Oh also if you come across any of the dead willows sticking up everywhere do not hesitate to flip right in the middle of them, I also pulled a couple doing that as well. Good luck!

Be careful running if you have never been there.

I really liked that lake!! Honestly I was disappointed when RAM released their schedule. I was looking forward to a rematch.

I developed a pattern during the tournament and just didn't fish 100%. Last year was a large learning experience.

TTT everyone got robbed, lake didn't show out because of the 35 mph north winds. Lake fished extremely small. It's actually a tremendous post-spawn structure lake as well.

Please Do tell. Does it have boat lanes like fork? I'd hate to tear up my boat first time on the lake.

It does not have boat lanes, go to Google earth and look at the lake now. Then go to the history tab and slide it back a few years in the drought, you will get a good indication where the lake was left with standing timber.

When you see guys running in certain parts of lake they are running old roads or pipelines. The timber is broke off at water level and you will destroy your boat if you don't know what you doing.
