The guys/gals fishing the Big Bass Tour(March 4th and 5th) will be fishing when that lake explodes. Should be some biguns weighed in. Then shortly after the Classic will be there.

About 20 years ago a buddy and I drove to Conroe to pre-fish for a team tournament in the spring. I had only been there once previously (1983) and it had hydrilla everywhere. Well, years later, no grass anywhere during our practice. We fished docks and creek channel timber for 5 days without a bite! I told my partner we might consider not entering the tournament since we can't figure this place out. He said we should just fish it anyway. So we entered and found a ridge (old pond dam)on my paper chart located near the lighthouse. We fished it with a 4" ringworm and had two keepers in the first 15 minutes and then lost a 3 pounder near the boat on a crankbait. We finished 1 lb out of a check, but felt pretty good about figuring a few fish out after 5 days of zeros. There were lots of zeros in that event. Don't give up, they are there.

I can't figure Conroe out at all. Last week my son and I caught about 15 st the same area, by far the most ever for Conroe on a single day. Out of the 15, about 6 keepers, most were around 15". We went back to the same spot yesterday and didn't catch a single one there. My son ended up with three total, all shallow. Wacky worms and shaky heads worked the best for us, especially last week. Water temp dropped about 5 degrees this week from the week prior where we were fishing.

Well, I am going to fish the BBT next month, have a couple days prior to scout things out. When you normally fish at Lewisville all of the time, you get used to getting skunked. Maybe Conroe will be good for me

I fish salt all summer and fall. As soon as the surf his 65 I am in the surf a lot. I fish pier lights at night and catch a ton of fish.
The problem with the salt is that it's entirely dictated by tide and wind. There is beinno point in going to the salt if there is no tide and/or bad wind. And even then you might get 4 days a month to actually fish....it's a different game.
With bass fishing, at least for me, I can go more often and maximize my fishing opportunities in terms of hours spent fishing..... just my 2 cents
