Had a great couple of weeks catching the Rainbow Trout and sunfish. Even caught a couple of Rios. Caught a limit of trout fishing a Guadalupe River stocking about two weeks ago. Caught a limit of trout off of the Blanco River a week after it's stocking and nailed a limit of trout at the Live Oak Lake stocking. Fished the Guadalupe on it's last stocking of the season and only caught two fish. Was fishing for them doing the exact same thing I had been doing all season long. Casting a gold Super Duper and using the Berkley Trout Bait-Cheese Colored. Like the saying goes."Sometimes you just can't catch em"! The creek fishing is still active with Redbreast,Bluegill,Bass, Longear, and Rios. Yes Rios, being caught. Creek fish are hanging at the ends of currents close to the bank by brush piles. Worms with a bottom technique was used fishing the creeks. Catching Rainbow Trout and some sunfish along with a couple of nice Rios during the winter. It just don't get any better! fish

Thanks Flags and Clayton for the replies. cheers Clayton: The second fish is a Longear which is one of six Sunfish species. thumb The Longear is the smallest of the sunfish family but they are some super fighters for their size! boxing

Banker, how much longer will it be before the sunfish bite gets fairly good along lake shorelines?

For a consistent bite fish should start getting pretty active mid spring just before the first spawn. After that late spring through late fall the sunfish bite should be pretty good through out the year! thumb

Nice fish as always Chuck. It has been a weird winter for sure. Trying to figure these patterns has been tough but fun. Also it has been a great trout season. Still getting limits when I fish for them. The Guadalupe is loaded. Going to hit the Crappie hard. East side has been good. Have not been fishing the west. Any current reports on the west from you?

Thanks Curtis for the reply. cheers This has been a very mild winter. hmmm Been catching a few Rios all winter long. hooked As for the Crappie it has been slow on the docks. This warm winter has placed em at other places. Been catching plenty of sunnies, trout, bass, catfish, and some Rios. As for Crappie the overall Crappie bite for me has been slow. thumb

Nice fish Chuck. Do not see many Rios during the winter. What type of Rio season do you expect this year?

Thanks Gitter for the reply. Due to the very mild winters we have had the past two years along with the good rainfall this Rio season should be AWESOME. rockon
