Found this article on crappie location based on water temp. A lot of decent information that may be used to pattern crappie in our lakes here in Central Texas.

Your thoughts?

water is 53 to 55 avg in centex and crappie are coming shallow and getting dark.
the spawn/temp topic was discussed feverishly last year, and many anglers started checking shallow much earlier than they had been in years past. Many found that the 60-70 degree temp is a myth. If that were the case, many crappie in north america would never spawn.
There is no magic temperture that triggers them to go shallow and spawn. They all dont spawn at the same time, and just that fact throws out the " the water temp is just abt right " theory. When the biological trigger that was placed in that fish by God tells that fish to spawn, it shall spawn.
Just go try, they might be there. ha

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

So you are suggesting the fall crappie spawn is no myth? Just saying, from my perspective God does in fact have a sense of humor to confound crappie fishermen!
