Quite a few big/expensive swim baits have been lost to braid dead-stop casting mishaps. We call them "cast-offs".....as the owner watches his $100 bait sail to a possible final splashdown after the shock from the lure's weight snaps the line. Some refuse to use it due to this risk.
I disagree with using original power pro for standard bass lure casting. It flattens out far worse than the 8 thread newer design weave. That flat line catches wind worse and has more drag through guides. Super 8 Slick (the 8 thread weave) will cast better and usually cause less hassle than original power pro. This matters more for typical bass lure casting, but not flipping, for instance.
I also feel that lines below .012 inch diameter start to be "too thin" for good bait cast performance, so light and limp it knots worse. 30# power pro slick 8 is only .011 inch in diameter. 40# is 0.012, but the handling characteristic differences are detectable. I learned don't go below 40# for my own good.

I really like the 832 suffix myself.
Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

Not sure if there is such a thing as braid for a beginner. Power Pro is decent, but loses color very fast. Try Berkley Professional. It casts very well, smooth, and round. It doesnt bury itself on the spool, and keeps its color longer. Just a suggestion.

I think power pro losing its color as a positive
To my eyes, as it loses its color, it blends in more with the wood and vegetation that I fish

I have had good luck with Stren Braid.. color lasts a long time and ties pretty easily. I use 30lb on my drop shot and shakey head rig. Because of the "cast away" problem, Mike Bucca from Bull Shad Swimbaits recommends using 20lb mono for swim baits. I am not the most experienced "braid" fisherman, so the info about using larger diameter braid made sense to me. I've never used larger than 30lb but I think I will move up on my texas rig rod.
