Winter is definitely coming. I caught a few right on the bottom in 14 feet of water at Joe Pool last Wednesday. This upcoming hard freeze (24 degrees) should put the cork in the bottle.

Great looking platter of fish, Chuck.

Yes Sir they are in winter patterns for sure on the Guadalupe River. Caught some good eating size Bluegill while fishing for Crappie. They were holding on brush piles in 14 to 20 feet of water. Also docks in 12 to 15 feet of water had some nice ones. woot

Perfect eating size! Nice fish.

Side Note: How deep are you catching the Gills now?

Thanks Gitter for the reply! cheers Found these in about 10 feet of water. After this current Arctic cold front the Gills will be deeper! 15 to 20 feet! thumb

Awesome catch, way to go. smile How do you think the immediate warming trend will affect the fish after this cold spell? Seems to me the panfish have been scattered, deep one day, shallow the next, etc, etc. It's been hard for me to stabilize a pattern while bank fishing for them. Never in the same spot twice. lol...

I have always taken advantage of the warm spells during the winter time. Seems that the Bluegill and other sunfish get active and venture out looking for a quick meal! I usually find them in shallower water especially after the second day of the warm spell! thumb

Side Note: This weather pattern has me confused! nuts

Hey Chuck! Me and Jeff were catching some nice Bluegills off of Mcqueeney the past weekend from Jeff's dock. Some of them had eggs!

Howdy all. I've been off the grid a couple years battling cancer. Still a battle but God is good and faithful.

Two questions

1-my kids and wife are taking me camping at Guadalupe River State Park during sling break. Any luck with gills or crappie there? What set up?

2-Does anyone know a reasonable crappie guide near Houston? I've never been with a really good crappie guy except once and it was a blast.

Thanks guys and I hope to be back in the loop after I can stop looking at the fish in aquariums at MD Anderson Cancer Center ! ☺

God bless y'all. I've missed hearing of your successes.

Blessings,

Michael
