Saturday morning I launched at a site on the SE side of Richland Chambers lake heading to the back of the cove. Light wind, easy paddle out. Tried jigging around several of the trees hoping to pick up some crappie. No luck, so I moved over to the grass line and tried a worm hoping to pick up a bass or two, again, no luck. Started back and hit the winds and minor white caps, did get a little damp but finally made it back to my launch area. Although paddling into the wind can get a little rough, I haven't had that much fun in a while. Wish you had been there!!

I have only rented pontoon boats out there over on the south side, near the dam, taken family out. It is a really huge lake with very open water, sort of a clean shoreline in many parts as if being developed for homes. Not very wild looking with the exception of some coves I guess.

One thing that just is really cool is driving over Richland Chambers Lake on HWY 287 and looking out at the water. I'm not sure why, but to me it really looks more, what, blue-green than most lakes, just beautiful water.

Too bad it isn't open for fishing but that water down below the dam on the east side? That looks like it'd be an excellent place to fish and kayak.

Brad

I got caught in some high winds on Grapevine once. Snapped my paddle in half stroking it back to the launch. LOL. I paddled back to my to truck with half a paddle, and it taught me to not buy cheap paddles. noidea
