Got myself up early this morning and loaded up the Coosa on the back of the truck and headed to Lake Somerville to do a little fishing in the creeks. Decided early on that I would go into nails and try to avoid most of the traffic that would eventually end up on the Yegua. Arrived to the boat ramp just after 7am, and dropped the kayak into the water. I was kind of wishing I got up slightly earlier, since there were already 4-6 other kayakers ready to make the trek into the lake. Most of them went into the Yegua, but there were two that decided to make the trip into nails. The wind had calmed down, and the lake was as flat as glass. Made for such easy paddling. The morning bite was slow on Nails, but than again, I don't fish Nails to often so I was testing the waters and probing the creek. The other paddlers made their way in further into Nails, and for the most park, the creek was all to myself most of the day. About mid-morning, the bite turned on. Bass were on the move, and I did manage to find a small group small male white bass. For about 10 min. each cast produced a small 10 in white bass. No keepers today. Paddled to the trailway bridge, found some small crappie. By 2pm, I decided to paddle back. Too dang HOT for February. I really enjoyed the day and the morning sunrise was a sight to be seen.

Love those quiet creeks and peaceful sunrises and sunsets.
Never can figure out why some folks bring a boom box with them, and assume everyone within a half mile also wants to listen to their music. soap

Just one more cast!
