We don't know how much current your LED lights pull either.But if switch distributor has provided you with a correct switch, it is much more likely you simply have made a bad wire crimp at the switch connections or used too small of wire.

But no need for solder.......often argued topic,but over time a good crimp is fine and more reliable than soldered connections in a moving vehicle or a kayak.

I'm having more trouble now.

Rewired and solder my connects, checked all the fuses to see if that would be it and my lights r still now at bright

The fuse I had installed said 10 on it but someone told me to get a 5 size and still no bright LED lights. If I plug straight into the battery with fuse they r as bright as needed.

Really stuck and frustrated at this point. Any help, drawing, phone call or a PM would be appreciated. Trying to get before dark Saturday morning and I want these LEDS to work

I have it going from 12v battery ----a fuse on positive side then the positive on Led strip and negative just going straight to the 12v negative output. (That's for max brightness)

I'd like to have to same thing but with a switch. Just doesn't seem like it's pulling a lot of juice cause they super dim.

Wild guess and suggestion time.....

With the switch installed and lights dim, move the toggle switch back and forth agressively 25 times or more to attempt to wipe and clean the internal electrical contact surfaces. Tug a bit on the two wires of the switch to confirm they are firmly attached and they do not easily become detached from their connnections which are hidden under the black sealant.

If the lights remain dim with switch ON, replace the switch.

I'm going to replace switch. Tried everything but I'll take it to mariner sails first and if they can see my mistake then great. If not ok get a new switch and in the parking lot

you got us all interested.. we now want to know what the issue was

I took the switch back to Mariner Sail and they checked it out for me and said it was working just fine but gave me a new one and test it in front of me as well to ensure it would work. I cut all new wire and soldered like crazy to ensure good connections. So to be honest with you I don't know what it was that was causing the issue.

I will say that when I put the "Switch" in the off position, that's when the light would come on but dimmer and when I put the "switch" back on the on position they would turn off. SO it could have been some internal thing or it could be that I'm an idiot when it comes to electricity.

now that things are up are running on that, I will be rewiring my fish finder battery cords (completely separate from my LEDS)so that I can put it in the Hobie battery holder.
