I've never tried deadsticking before but was going to try next week for some hybrids.

I've seen a few posts and a couple of videos on how to rig but still have a couple of questions. I think that I saw somewhere on here that you want the jig head to hang horizontal when you tie it on. When I tie mine on it will be horizontal but when I put a fluke on it, it drops to vertical. Am I doing something wrong or is this OK?

Also, I'm going to order some jig heads for deadsticking. Will 1oz. be a pretty good size to start with? I think the deepest part of the lake is only arounf 38 feet.

Once the bait is in the water, it will probably have a more horizontal orientation. I think the suggestions here were that 3/4 and 1 oz jigs were the ideal weights to go with.
