I am headed to Amistad this weekend for the first time in a long time. I'm looking for any and all free advice to help make this trip a productive one!

Here's the last post. I would PM Boomer. He lives down there and fishes it often. Grass is the key and the deeper/taller the better.

I appreciate the thread link. I'll be hunting for the grass. Is there any worries about going to the MX side?

I wouldn't be driving 5 miles into the back of the mexican rivers, main lake areas are ok.

I'm at Amistad and this was my 3rd day fishing. The best grass I've found has been in that canyon straight north and west of the Devil's River. I caught fish to 3.5 lbs on a weightless Senko in 7-20 fow. Sorry, I don't have a paper map and can't find anywhere that names the creeks on the internet.

That's the first place I'm going when I get down there. Safer there than at home with my wife.

There's no problem going as far back in Mx waters as you can. Just watch your surroundings like everything else. I do it often and by myself. I would launch at box head toward Zoro or Burro Canyons. Sounds like he was around the windmill area?? Main lake and river seems to be behind a little off of the river and Mx side. Prevailing E/SE winds warms Mx a little faster. You could head into Millers Cove there's some grass around there. Don't know if Brendan is guiding right now but you could hire Ray Hanselman, Olen Jensen or Kurt Dove. All are on fish right now. Ray especially. Bud Light this weekend then Champs on the 25th not going to get much info on this forum in the near future..
