Well if I didn't go over the 100 mark today I wasn't but a few fish away. I was worried at first when I took a pic of the first fish of the day. A little rat male but the seamed to grow every cast for a while as bigger fish went on the feed. My buddy kept count and stopped at 40 just a little way into the day. We caught a little bit of everything bass, gills, goo, buffalo, crappie, and a ton of sandbass. I finally had to retire the first clouser of the year. I will probably tie it back on when the run is full blown and they are hitting anything that hits the water. I normally don't thumb sandbass as you catch so many but they were really eating today almost every fly was in the back in the roof of the mouth. So really got a bad case of bass thumb today. Wind was really ripping at one point I would make my normal back cast on the left and would have to move my rod to the other side of my head and make the forward cast with a back hand of sorts with the fly going on the opposite side it had started on. There was no false cast you had to pull it back and deliver one shot. The wind was rough but boy did the fish not care I can't wait for the next few weeks. No way the will all go up early. I have a feeling we will still have the normal March and April run so we will have a very extended time of running fish this year looks like. Just another day in fishing paradise today fish

Good post. I got to where I smash the barbs for sand bass flies. It makes it much easier to remove deep hooks and I haven't had that many fish come off.

Barbs always down when they really get going. These were just weird they would've been hard with or without a bar being in the roof of the mouth in the back of the throat. When they really get going you get so many of them it's just easier to shake them off holding the fly without a Barb we just have to watch and make sure they don't have their mouth Clamped down on the hair.
