Good video and congratulation on the catch! I almost got it from a Longnose I caught last summer! From now on it is heavy gloves and long pliers when taking the hook out of a gar!

If for whatever reason you are going to keep a gar, zip tie his mouth shut as soon as you bring him in. I had a big one "wake" back up in a boat with me one time after I was sure I had KOed him and it was UGLY!!! They open their mouth wide open and then throw their head side to side snapping on whatever they touch!
You know that old saying "Some people march to the beat of a different drummer."? I don't listen to a drum at all and have meandered through life instead of marching.
