Reluctantly had to sell a couple of rods and now may have a chance to buy a new one. Looking for a really sensitive rod for T-rigs and light jigs in the $250.00 price range and these 2 seem to come highly recommended. Could use some help with these or others......(just sold a brand new Dobyns Champion 734 SH that I never got to use). Thanks.

Go with the Helium 3. They're awesome rods and the folks at Kistler are great to deal with in case you have any issues.

Both are great rods. I have a couple of Helium 3s myself. Great rods and you can buy local. Order direct from Kistler you will have it the next day.
Personally I use a Mag2 7'0" MH for my T-Rig. I love the Winn Grip. For a charge Trey can convert any cork grip over to a Winn grip. Or you can order a custom KLX with a Winn Grip.

I primarily use the Helium 3 for anything that I need a sensitive rod for and they are awesome.
Actually they are so close to their $500 rod its hard to tell much difference.
Like others said locally built in Texas by Texans and Trey is good people.

I really like my St Croix rods!! Granted they are the highest priced rods I own but a big step up(at least to me feel wise) from other rods that I still use as I don't have many St Croix's yet. It isn't listed as their "worm rod" but I use the 7' Sweeper Spinnerbait rod my t-rigging and it works well for 3/8 up to 3/4. I think its because the rod even though listed as MH is a little more limber allowing the fish to load up more. I do have the 7'1" jig/worm rod too and it has a really fast tip so I detect bites a little better with it on light weights(1/8-5/16). I own a kistler magnesium(I think?) so it isn't on par with the St Croix but seems to be well made and haven't had any issues with it so I'm sure the Helium is a great rod too.

from the St Croix website the 2 rods I mentioned are 4.3 and 4.4 oz respectively. I can't find the Helium's rod weight on their website so emailed them to ask. If you are spending that kind of $$ its worth knowing what you are going to have!

St Croix. There is no secret where their rod blanks are made.

I have 3 Kistler magnesium's, the Alton Jones football jig special, the weightless worm, and the general purpose. This are my sensitive technique rods and I use them all the time, I have yet to find anything that comes close to them. I have not used the helium series yet, but I will in the future. I have used St. Croix's twice, once for several hours in tournament with a friend and did not like the feel of them, they seemed sensitive enough, just never got comfortable with them. I think they were the Avids. But then everybody is different.

I've got around 20 Kistlers (I know, I have a problem), mostly old Magnesiums, a couple Argons, an old Helium and two Helium 3's. I had the 3's listed to sell but got no bites. I need to generate some cash for tournament expenses!!

Both good rods.

I chose a StCroix Avid many years ago when they first came out. Was so impressed with it that a few years later I wanted another one just like it. Bass Pro was out of stock for the model I wanted so I bit the bullet and went with a Legend Tournament Spinner Sweeper. I fished both rods at least 100 days a year for many years from a kayak in the salt water, both inshore and offshore. At the time I rarely carried more than 3 rods. From tarpon to snook, bonito, to bonefish, those two rods were put through the ringer. Over the last 10 years I can't tell you how many times I've had a jig head, crank bait, or sliding sinker come back and bang the rods so hard I would worry about the next hookset and having the rod break. They are both still my go to rods each day when I head out. I don't believe there is enough time left in my fishing life to acquire the confidence in any other brand at this point. cheers

Looks like the Helium has a slight edge with great Customer service. Sure wish Bass Pro carried the Kistler where I could handle both and save $50.00 on the rod trade in. Does anybody think or know if Kistler or Tackle warehouse will have a sale anytime soon. Thx to all.

St croix has great customer service. The legend series actually has lifetime warranty. U can't go wrong with either rod as I own a couple heliums as well. Heliums carry a 3 yr warranty. That's why I own 25+ st croix.

Do you like painted blanks or beautiful raw graphite? The beauty and sensitivity of an NFC blank is where I'd spend my money. Kistler.

Curious - why not buy another Dobyns 734? Super rod imo!

I'm open for the most sensitive rod for fishing Texas rigs, but was also hoping to take advantage of savings $50 at BPS using trade in. They don't carry Dobyns, but do carry St Croix and Kistlers are on sale right now.
