Great video, as always. Very impressive bass. By the way, that was an eastern Phoebe sitting on the snag, not a kinglet.

I've been thinking about making this river trip for a while now so on Sunday after church I hit the trail to the Navasota river. A half mile yak drag over soft swampy ground to reach the river and then kayaked up maybe a mile or so to find a logjam that dashed any hopes of going further on this day.. I'll be back with a buddy or two to make another attempt when the water warms and the possibility of going swimming isn't a problem..

So do yall launch from the County Road 132 bridge when you go to Yegua creek?

I've been wanting to try out the "White Bass Run" thing.

I've yet to go. Been having a number of things arising that kept me from going.
Praying that I can go Friday, Feb 17th. which will be my birthday. It's been over 2 months since I've taken my kayak out.

The Yegua up at the irwin bridge is really good and popular with bank fishermen. Some guys have launched there but logjams will prevent the kayaker from going very far in either direction. Conditions right now are favoring fishing the lower end of the Yegua up from the lake which is a very long walk from Newmans Bottom and difficult to fish from the bank. It is a kayakers paradise IMHO and as the lake nears normal level or below it is a kayak/drag place only. The mouth of the creek will be too shallow for most other boat traffic to enter the creek but is not a problem for a yak if you are willing to drag it over the shallowest parts. Once in the creek it is smooth sailing all the way to Newmans.

Okay, thanks again. I have a cart to help pull the kayak around.
I don't bank fish anymore unless its one of the local bayous here in Katy.

One more question:

If it rains and the water rises, how long does it take to go back to normal level?

I've been looking at the weather report and a cold front is coming in on Tuesday with a good amount of rain.
Hopefully, the water will go back down and clear up by Friday morning? If not, I may just go to the coast instead.

Thanks again for your help.
I'm always checking out your YouTube videos.

If Friday is the day you have to fish then don't worry about what condition the Yegua is in that day if it is not completely flooded out. When the creek rises again the whitebass will move up in mass and to be one of the first to get at them is well worth the chance and effort.
